Baptism after death possible? PDF Print E-mail

Do Mormons believe that people can get baptized in the afterlife? I mean, if they are capable of hearing and accepting "the gospel" after death, can they then get baptized?  I am not referring to baptizing by proxy, done by the living.

I was wondering, because generally baptism occurs after acceptance of doctrine.

1. Baptism in the spirit world.
No, there is not baptism in the Spirit World, all baptism must be done on the Earth by living people.

This is why we do proxy baptisms, the dead can hear and accept the gospel in the after life and accept the proxy baptism done for them to be able to receive celestial glory, IF they never received and rejected the restored Gospel in there lifetime.
