Christianity Clarification PDF Print E-mail
Written by Clifford Keys, Colonel, US Army (Retired)
Tuesday, 11 October 2011
I am VERY troubled by the Baptist minister who stated on TV last week that the Mormon Church is a "Cult"!  I have always believed that you are a Christian Church based on teachings of the Bible.

Please clarify so I can share with more than 500 other concerned veterans in our email network.

Please and thank you.

1. Absolutely
Absolutely Mormons are Christians. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the official name of the religion commonly called the Mormon Church. We believe first and foremost that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and the Son of God. He is my Savior and Redeemer. I would refer you to http://mormon.org/jesus-christ/ for further information.

Thank you for your question.

ps As the son of a career Air Force officer, Lt Col. Thompson (Retired), I want to thank you and all of our servicemen for the service and sacrifices you have given to us and our country.

2. Letter from Col. Clifford Keys
As a result of emails between Col. Keys and myself - he wrote a letter to Dr. Jeffers. You can find it here: http://zenoch.org/2011/10/11/an-open-letter-from-a-non-mormon-christian-to-dr-jeffress/

3. Christianity
The bigoted statement by Pastor Robert Jeffress is correct in certian aspects if you twist to his method of thinking.

Pastor Jeffress beleive is unless you accept his interpretation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and accept man made doctrines like the Trinity, ect that you are not Christian.

To the rest of the rational world this would be called a Trianitrian Christianty which is a large grouping of denomination of Christianity, but there is many non Trinitarian sects of Christianity as well. To discount LDS is to discount these many protestant sects as well that are non trititarian.

So I conceed that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not a part of the Trinitarian Christianity movement, but we are still professing that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, that he is the Son of God, and that he lives! I do not know what else you need to define someone a Christian.
