Quoting Elder Richard G Scott, "If you are despondent, racked by transgression, are ill, alone, or desperately in need of comfort and support, I solemnly testify that the Lord will help you when you carefully obey the spiritual law upon which that help is predicated."

Assuming it is God's will to heal, is there a specific spiritual law to follow in receiving His help when one is ill?  For example health is promised to those who keep the word of wisdom.

Thanks--

The Word of Wisdom is a law by which good health can be prolonged but it does not guarantee good health forever. We will all get sick and come under various aliments and sicknesses.

The two laws that really deal with healing is the laws of faith and obedience.

I would ask have you received a priesthood blessing yet?

This is a powerful tool of healing, for we know that ". . . it shall come to pass that he that hath faith in me to be healed, and is not appointed unto death, shall be healed." (D&C 42:48)

Of course you see though that the prerequisite to healing is faith, you need to believe that the Lord will heal you unless his plans are for you to return to him.

Also obedience to the commandments is a big part of healing as well. "I, the Lord, am bound when ye do what I say; but when ye do not what I say, ye have no promise." (D&C 82:10) Of course though do not feel like just because we are each imperfect that the Lord refuses to help, because if that was the case no one would ever be healed. All this verse points out is that if we are doing our part to follow the commandments to the best of our ability, that Heavenly Father is bound to bless us with gifts of healing, if it is in accordance with his eternal plan for each of us.
