Fasting and Praying for help PDF Print E-mail

Hi. And thanks for taking my question.
Im not baptised. I've been going to church with my mum and stepfather every sunday for the past couple of months, since experiencing a catalyst in my life. I've only missed  two, when unwell. I've experienced a couple of occasions where I've prayed with everything in me for this poison and way of life be removed from my body, my being. And I have been physically ill to the point of requiring a basin very close by.   :-(  I felt something else after that. A release, a peace, a different way of thinking - and then it I felt the strongest belief that Im meant to fast and pray for myself, for strength to get through this part of my journey.
My question is, as Im not baptised, can I, am I allowed to fast and pray for myself? And how do I about it?

1. This is how I ususally do it
Praying or Fasting can be done by anyone in any circumstance. Baptism is not a requirement.

I'm going to be more detailed than you probably need, but I figure it's better to have more info than not enough.

I will usually start my fast with a prayer. In the Bible we are taught to open our prayers by addressing our Father in Heaven and to close in the name of Jesus Christ. If you don't, God still hears your prayers anyway.

I then usually thank Him for stuff. Then I ask for help with whatever it is that I am going to fast for.

I usually fast without food and drink, but there are some circumstances that require some variation.

When I am done fasting I do a prayer to close my fast that is very similar to my opening prayer, but stating that I am now going to close my fast.

Remember to fast wisely. If you have medical concerns not to, then you should be careful about it.
