1. Patience and Trust
God answers prayers, however, He does so in His own time, in His own manner. Sometimes, his answer is the seeming silence itself. When we have a pressing question that we need an answer to, the pattern we are taught to follow is to study the matter out in our minds and come to the best conclusion we can. Then, we take that conclusion to the Lord and ask Him if it is correct. If we ask in faith, trusting that the Lord will answer, we can be sure of one of a couple results.

If our conclusion is incorrect and especially if it is one that may do us harm, the Lord will make that known to use, either by troubled feelings, "a stupor of thought" or something like that. In this case we should return to the drawing board and reexamine our conclusions.

If our conclusion is correct, we may feel a good feeling inside letting us know that we have made the correct decision.

The tricky part is what to do when it seems there is no answer at all. It is my understanding that in this case, if we have done all we can and prayed in faith and still receive no answer, we can take this as the Lord's silent approval of our decision. It may be an indication that He trusts you and is letting you stand on your own for a while.

Just trust in the Lord, be patient with Him and rest assured that if your are sincere in your efforts and prayers, He will let you know before you make a decision that will do you harm.

Just listen to Garth Brook's song "Unanswered Prayers". There's some real wisdom in there.
