Studying the BoM, pondering it's message, and praying for confirmation from the Holy Ghost are the best steps. Only the Holy Ghost can give you a testimony of the truth of the BoM that is eternal and complete!

I love studying the BoM. I'm finishing it up for Personal Progress (a church program for young women). I love it and it can really change lives. Always pray before you study. Doing this invites the Holy Ghost to be with you while you read and to be able to understand more. If you hae a true desire to know if it is true, pray with a sincere heart, and I guarentee that you will get an answer. God loves all his children and will give you an answer in/at the right time.

The BoM can be and is life changing. Always pray before you read and study the Book of Mormon. Doing this will invite the Holy Ghost to be with you and help you better understand it.
