I am not a practicing church goer and never have been.  Guess you would say I am agnostic.  Until proved otherwise I believe there is a possiblity there is a God or possibly not.  Believe along same lines when it comes to ghosts, spirits, UFOs, re incarnation  Until I see positive proof one way or the other I believe they are all possible.  Recently I have had lot of problems with depression and currently on medication. Which has helped some but not totally.  Finanacial worries aren't helping either. My doctor suggested reading the bible. I feel I need something to believe in or hope for but not totally ready to accept God.  Will reading the bible help?  Can you prove to me there is a God.  I guess it doesn't help matters that I see so many six day sinners and one day saints.  I am confused, easily upset and angered and at time suicidal.   I will say that I believe if there is a God  he is same person for all religions be it Mormon, Catholic, Baptist, etc. Can you help me?

I believe there is a God whom I call my Heavenly Father and he has a Son named Jesus Christ who is my personal Savior. You can learn for yourself that there is a God by following your doctor's suggestion - read the Bible. I would say perhaps it might be wise to begin by reading the First Gospel of Matthew. I believe that God is the same for all mankind - no matter what faith is practiced. There surely are spirits as we ourselves are spirit. When we die we lay down our mortal body and our spirit returns to God. Please consider reading the scriptures - God's word - and if you do, you will come to find that indeed there is a God and your life will be changed.

2. Yes, there is a God
There absolutely is a God. I can't imagine what life would be like without a hope that there is a God and that there is life after we die. What a depressing frame of mind to be in if there was no hope.

Like Diane, who actually happens to be a good friend of mine, I would strongly encourage you to read the Bible. I would also recommend reading in the Book of Mormon. In fact, here is a link to a story in the Book of Mormon of someone who also asked if there was a god. The story is here: Alma 22

In addition to reading - I would also encourage you to pray. In a quiet place, kneel down, and talk to God. Ask him if there is a God and if He loves you. I know He does love you and me and all of His children.

There is purpose to this life. This church has the answers you want and need. You just have to have the desire and ask the questions.

3. Yes, there is a God
Dear Roberta, I admire your courage to seek out answers to your inermost questions and/or concerns. It proves to me that you are in want of the truth about sacred things. This is a good start. You will have lots of friends and support here. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and have been in good standing with the church for over 30 years. It is important for you to know that. I will assist you in anything you need to know as far as I am capable of. I know that God lives. Anyone can have the priviledge of knowing that. He knows your concerns and your aflictions. You can come to know Him and have peace of mind on that alone. Hang on and don\'t give up. This could be the opportunity for you to receive truth, light and knowledge. At your service for further assistance.
