Why do Mormons try to convert other Christians? PDF Print E-mail

My soul is saved. I'm going to see God and Jesus when I die, so how come it seems that the Mormons seem to want us to convert so bad. We are Christians we believe in the same God as you do. Shouldn't they be happy that we are going to Heaven just like they are. What's so important that we have to convert so bad? Is it just that they need people on their side?

1. Ordinances
Mormons want to convert people so they can live in the Celestrial Kingdom or the highest kingdom. To enter into the Celestrial Kingdom you have to be baptized and be married in the temple.

2. A little More
Annelise, there are obviously questions that lead to more questions, and I just wanted to add a little more to the last response. We believe that there are 3 different degrees to heaven. (from lowest to highest) Telestial, Terrestrial, Celestial. (Not Celestrial. : ) ) Of course those who are good God fearing people will be able to go to heaven, but there are more requirements to be qualified to attain the Celestial Kingdom. To attain the Celestial, like was said above, you have to be baptized, and recieve certian ordinances which are given inside our Temples. One of those is \"Marriage for time and all eternity\" with your spouse. But just because you do those things doesn\'t guarantee you a one-way ticket. You still have to be faithful in keeping the commandments and keep pushing through all the way to the end. Now we don\'t know who will go to where, (Only God is the Judge of that) but we have been told what is required to attain the Celestial.

3. A little More
"We believe that there are 3 different degrees to heaven."

Where can that be found in the Bible?

4. 3 Degrees to heaven in the Bible
The best reference to this is found in 1st Corinthians 15:40-42. Also reference is made to it in John 14:2.

5. 3 Degrees to heaven in the Bible
Because we want to help people be in the same level as us like there is three kind of sections in Heaven, and we want to help people. Like if you saw a person on the sreet that was homeless, you would help them because you don't like to see people like that, thats the way we are with trying to convert others to mormonism. Thats how i would explain it.

6. Because there is more.
We try to convert other Christians to complete the gospel of Jesus Christ. The book of Mormon is not a different or stand alone \"Mormon Bible\" it is the \"Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ\".
There is more revelation given to a modern day prophet that we want to share the joy of that new revelation just like christians want to share the New Testament with non beleivers. The World is ever changing, don\'t you think God wants to give us new information to help lead us through this life? I do. Amen.

7. Still having a bit of trouble.
Phillip, Could you walk me through those verses? I see what your talking about but I don't see the divisions. Could you go a bit more in depth about the explanation on this.

8. what's the incentive?
kind of in response to Phillip's post: I'm curious as to why would one want to be in the celestial kingdom as opposed to the Telestial? Since all three of these are essentially the same heaven, what is the incentive of carrying out all the extra work to get into the upper ones? would you get different accommodations? or is it a matter of status? would having 3 different kingdoms contradict the saying that everyone is equal under god?

9. 3 Degrees of Glory
Because the 3 Degrees of Glory vary from each other - from the Most glorious (Celestial Kingdom) to the least (Telestial).

Just like it says in 1 Cor 15:42 "There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory."

The Telestial Kingdom is a kingdom of Glory. It will be magnificent there. But the Terrestrial Kingdom is much more glorious than the Telestial. And in like manner the Celestial kingdom is much better / more glorious than the Terrestrial.

Also in the celestial kingdom is the place where marriages are eternal and families are eternal.
