Comment 1 and 2 are not speaking on behalf of the Church, and comment one is completely incorrect, whereas the subtle denial in comment two is also incorrect. People are allowed to have their own opinions, and it is of my opinion that one should not pretend the Church endorses an \"anti-evolutionary\" attitude. Fundamental and Orthodox Christians and Mormons alike will forever believe in a global flood, creationism, and Adam living to be 1000. There is nothing wrong with that, as scientific theory is not essential nor a factor for Salvation. 
 
You will be hard pressed to find an LDS science professor who calls evolution \"proven wrong on numerous occasions\" or \"utterly ridiculous\". John A. Widtsoe, B H Roberts, and Henry E Eyring, each of which were Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ, all understood and accepted the basics premises of the theory of evolution.  
 
John E Talmage had this to say in his journal of the subject: \"‘[B]elief in a loving 
God perfectly accords with my reverence for science, and I can see no 
reason why the evolution of animal bodies cannot be true—as indeed the 
facts of observation make it difficult to deny—and still the soul of man is 
of divine origin.’\" 
 
Evolution is not an atheistic point of view, and it is adopted as a true science by almost all Latter-day Saint Scientists that I am aware of, or ever have been aware of.  
 
Also, remember Brigham Young also had this to say: 
\"In these respects we differ from the Christian world, for our religion will not clash with or contradict the facts of science in any particular...whether the Lord found the earth empty and void, whether he made it out of nothing or out of the rude elements; or whether he made it in six days or in as many millions of years, is and will remain a matter of speculation in the minds of men unless he give revelation on the subject. If we understood the process of creation there would be no mystery about it, it would be all reasonable and plain, for there is no mystery except to the ignorant. \"
