Well Said Jared!
It always amazes me that there is so much proof out there, that even people who have been LDS since they were young (Like I am) can still be amazed by the amount of proof we can find through archeological digs and other things that are down in South America. Thanks for sharing those websites Jared!

Roy, all I have to say, is something that I had heard from my Dad while I was growing up. He said about the church... "The Church is Perfect, The people in it aren't." I have had to remind myself again and again that that is so true. That when things happen, that when we are looking for someone to reach out to us, that they may not do it. Not because the Church itself isn't "true". But that the people in it are just as imperfect as you and I.

I know that that doesn't really address the questions that arose in your mind about Joseph Smith, or about the Book of Mormon, (I think those references that Jared put up are invaluable.) But your spirituality and your own testimony is just that. Yours. Yes, there is a lot of it that has to go on faith, but when it comes down to it, it is the testimony that you have built up inside of yourself. Your own personal relationship with your Heavenly Father.

Honestly though, I have never heard the argument that "there weren't enough people on the earth at that time". But you know what, I don't have to address that, or worry about that. Because what I know....I know. And I didn't get that knowledge from man. I didn't get it from some researcher. I know that the source of that information is the same source from which all truth flows. Straight from my Father in Heaven. And I recieved it through the manifestation of the Holy Ghost that I felt when I prayed about the Book Of Mormon. That feeling, that experience, I cannot doubt. That it why I don't have to worry about things like "There weren't that many people on the earth till the 1950's" or "How in the heck is it possible that blowing horns and cracking vases called the walls of Jericho to fall?" It really is faith Roy, when it comes down to it. But it is also the amount that those impressions have had an impact on you. So I would challenge you to come back. Make the effort, you be the one to reach out, talk to your local bishop about your confusion and desires. If he isn't helping out, talk to the Elder's Quorm President, talk to everyone till you find someone who will care, to give you what you need. This is about you.

Wishing you the best! I hope to be able to help in any way possible!
