Addition from Acts
Acts 1:11
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. (italics added)

If Jesus ascended into heaven with a body, then he will return with a body. This means that he has a body, and since Jesus is the express image of the father, God has a body as well.

Also:

Exodus 33:11

And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. (italics added)

If God spoke to Moses face to face, he must have a face, and therefore have a body.

The erroneous belief that God is a spirit arises from Aristotelian philosophy (where physical matter is considered imperfect, and spirit is considered perfect) adopted by the Catholic church, and does not derive from early Christian belief.
